Four people died on spot and several others were heavily wounded when two cars collided on the R43 between Gansbaai and Pearly Beach, the Western Cape province.
WC traffic chief Kenny Africa told the media that paramedics were currently working on the scene, assessing the victims. The injured people will be reportedly airlifted to the nearest hospital in the next hour.
Two severely damaged vehicles with their parts scattered on and around the road can be seen on the bloodcurdling image of the crash. One of them is allegedly an overturned bakkie, while the other is a standard sedan.
The services are investigating the accident’s details and continue to clean up the scene. Due to that, the road remains closed for other local motorists.
