Taxi hitmen appeared in court in Cape Town

Two men who were described by the police as the alleged “taxi hitmen” made their appearance in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court.

According to the KZN police, two suspects aged 26 and 28 were arrested by the police officers last week in Emalangeni, Durban. They are suspected of murdering a taxi driver on April 5.

“On 5 April 2019 at 6pm, it is alleged that the victim, Sbusiso Mbutho, was driving his Toyota Quantum along Dududu Road when he was approached by the suspects,” the statement said.

The victim was shot several times. He was declared dead at the scene. His car was hijacked.

The police have arrested the suspects separately. One of them was in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The case was postponed to April 24.
