The last fight for veteran Noluthando “Agnus” Ncwane which she couldn’t stand happened at 2 Military Hospital during the weekend.
A group of armed men in masks reportedly broke into the Ncwane’s house in Khayelitsha and gunned her down along with her son last Thursday. They both sustained severe gunshot wounds and succumbed to their injuries in hospital.
“The suspects opened fire, wounding both the woman and her son. Both victims were transported to hospital for treatment, and the woman succumbed to her injuries today (yesterday),” police spokesperson Noloyiso Rwexana said.
Her record was spotless. While serving in the June 16 detachment established following the 1976 Soweto Uprising, Ncwane traveled to Mozambique, Angola, and Lusaka during the turbulent days of apartheid.
She had then been deployed to 2 Military Hospital where she helped military veterans in the province.
“We are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder,” police spokesperson Noloyiso Rwexana on Sunday said.
