Two separate attacks on farmers were registered in Limpopo last Saturday. The first incident occurred in Marble Hall, north of Groblersdal, and left one victim hospitalised after a crowbar assault, the second attack left one man dead and his wife shot in Bela-Bela.
According to Ian Cameron, the head of Community Safety for AfriForum, four armed robbers caught three people by surprise at the farm on the outskirts of Marble Hall. When one of them resisted, two shots were fired. Fortunately, the man managed to escape unscathed and called for help. Another victim was injured by a crowbar. The robbers got away with firearms and phones.
The same night, several assailants ambushed a married couple on plot 24 Roodepoort outside Bela-Bela. They shot the man dead and fired at his wife. The woman sustained a gunshot wound to her chest but reached the neighbours who rushed her to hospital. She is reported to be in a critical condition. The couple’s possessions and a bakkie were stolen.
No arrests have been made yet.
