Trevor Davis shot his wife Elma with a shotgun before turning the barrel on himself.
The incident happened at their residential complex in Mossel Bay on Sunday.
The paramedics rushed to the scene to declare both dead. 67-year-old Trevor Davis used a 12-gauge shotgun to murder his wife and then to commit suicide.
According to the police spokesperson warrant officer Pieter Koekemoer, when the officers came to the scene the door was locked.
During the house inspection, they found the couple in their bedroom.
It is reported that both Trevor and Elma were established members of the Bowls society.
“They were a well-known and popular couple. We don’t know what went wrong,” said the President of the Eden Bowls Jenny Sinclair.
The police are investigating the case.
