A man has sustained a fatal injury during a shootout with KwaZulu-Natal police officers. He was suspected of robbery.
According to the police spokesperson Lt-Col Thulani Zwane, a 57-year-old woman and her children were at home when the robbers entered. The victims were asleep.
The suspects fled the house with a grass cutter machine, cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash. They escaped in the victim’s vehicle.
The police officers traced the criminals during a manhunt. When they tried to stop the hijacked vehicle, the suspects started shooting.
“One suspect was fatally wounded whilst the others fled the scene on foot into the bushes. The vehicle was recovered and the outstanding suspects are being sought by the police,” Zwane advised.
