The police hot pursuit ended up with a seizure of four suspects who were accused of murder in Inanda, north of Durban. The four will be prosecuted to the full extent of law following a murder committed at KwaMashu hostel on Jabula road on Monday.
All the suspects in their twenties were arrested within an hour of the crime the police spokesperson Lt-Col Thulani Zwane said.
Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane said that assault happened at about 1:30 p.m. when the victim identified by the police as Sibusiso Zulu aged 37 was approached by three armed suspects. Then he was gunned down in his room. The attackers took his belongings before they had fled the scene. They hijacked his Toyota Corolla too.
“Local police who were conducting regular patrols in the area were alerted about the shooting. In less than an hour the officers spotted Zulu’s vehicle at a service station at Dube Village, Inanda, and the suspects were arrested,” Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane said.
Along with the Zulu’s property, the police seized an unlicensed pistol with 12 live rounds, eight allegedly stolen cellphones, an identity book as well as credit cards taken from the victim.
The accomplices are to be charged with murder, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
