On Friday, a 30-year-old woman was killed in her Nkowankowa Section D house, near Tzaneen, Limpopo. She had earlier obtained a protection order against her ex-boyfriend who is now the main suspect.
According to her 14-year-old daughter, the suspect came to their house looking for her mother.
“When he got into the house, my mother shouted at him (telling him) to leave. He then throttled and pushed her into her bedroom where he immediately drew a knife from his hip before closing the door.”
The girl left the house to ask for help.
“While I was outside crying, I saw him with his hands dripping blood… there were bloodstains on his clothes.”
The victim’s aunt rushed to the scene once she learnt about the attack.
“I found her body in a pool of blood. The room was crammed with building material, there was no space for her to escape. The room had been turned upside down and that tells us that she fought to the bitter end,” she lamented.
According to police spokesman Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, the suspect had tried to flee but was arrested. The police also recovered an item believed to be the murder weapon.
Collins Phakula appeared in the Nkowankowa magistrates’ court yesterday and was charged with murder. The case was postponed to next Monday for further investigation.
