A priest of the Catholic Church was charged with sexual harassment after the other alleged victim came forward with allegations. The police detained him again on Monday.
The priest was released on R1 000 bail after a hearing in the Mount Fletcher Magistrates Court last week.
Another alleged victim aged 19 has since come forward with fresh allegations of sexual assault.
A young woman said that she was so shocked that she ran away as she couldn’t believe a priest was involved.
“The incident occurred at the same mission high school in Matatiele. On 28 November the suspect allegedly called the teen to his office and told her he loved her. The victim refused his advances but he later touched her breasts in an unpleasant way,” the police spokesman Captain Raphael Motloung said.
The priest is to appear in court soon.
