Mandrax worth R1.2m seized by Western Cape police

Western Cape police officers arrested two suspects in Delft and seized Mandrax tablets worth over R1m.

“Our onslaught on the drug trade in this province has secured the arrest of two suspects in Delft earlier today for being in possession of mandrax tablets valued at R200,000,” said Lt. Col. Andrè Traut, Western Cape police spokesperson.

According to Traut, Delft Crime Prevention Unit followed up on information of drugs and an unlicensed firearm in Nietgewerk Street.

The search of the house led to the arrest of two suspects, seizure of drugs, and seizure of two 9mm handguns.

Traut also said that the officers got additional information that more drugs were stored at another house down the same street.

“The circumstances surrounding the matter are currently under investigation and the suspects are due to make a court appearance in Blue Downs once they have been charged,” stated Traut.
