Police officers in Pretoria arrested a man after he crashed his SUV into the building of the police station.
It is stated that he rammed his car into the gate of his home. The car continued to pick up the speed and after going through the neighbour’s premises it crashed into Lyttelton station.
“The vehicle picked up momentum and crashed through his wall into his neighbour’s yard and through his neighbour’s wall at the back. He drove over the busy Clifton Avenue while miraculously missing all oncoming traffic. He then crashed through the police station’s fence and right into some detective offices,” said Cpt. Colette Weilbach.
According to Weilbach, none of the officers or civilians was injured.
It is believed that the man fell asleep behind the wheel with his foot on the acceleration pedal.
He is expected to appear in court soon.
