Six pit bull terriers attacked a gardener on a property on Malcolm Road in Ruimsig, Roodepoort.
According to BCI Security’s media liaison officer Gary Jordaan, information about the incident was received through an emergency WhatsApp group.
Jordaan also stated that several emergency services worked on scene including SPCA:
“I’m told several shots had to be fired on the property in order to repel the dogs and allow paramedics to resuscitate the man, who was then transported to the hospital.”
Jordaan said the gardener was in critical condition.
According to the Roodepoort/Krugersdorp SPCA manager Mandy Cattanach, four dogs were handed over to be euthanised. That is the reason why SPCA will not be taking any steps against the dog owner.
