Seven accused for drug manufacturing made brief appearance in court

Seven people were caught in a R50 million drug bust two weeks ago. They made a brief appearance in the Durban Magistrates Court.

Seven men and women aged from 25 to 52 are accused of drug manufacturing, drug dealing, and possession of drug making machinery.

Defence advocate Ridwan Sayed asked for the matter to be postponed as the alternative addresses for the accused had to be verified. The advocate also asked for the accused to be remanded at the Durban Central prison.

Seven accused were detained in Springfield. Suspects were arrested by the members of the Provincial Organised Crime Unit and the eThekwini Inner South Cluster’s Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit.
