Environmental Affairs Minister Nomvula Mokonyane stated that rhino poaching in SA was at an alarming rate. Minister announced the development of new initiatives aimed at dealing with the crisis.
According to stats, the number of killed rhinos has declined by over 200 compared to 2017, although Mokonyane states that too many animals are still being killed.
Minister also said there would be public consultations on dealing with the problem.
“We have all these means that have made some improvement and given us the opportunity to go back to the drawing board and very soon there will be an announcement about the work the team is to consider.”
