Western Cape police department seized a large batch of dagga

A 31-year-old suspect, Sicelo Sameul Sokaba is expected to appear for his formal bail application next Wednesday. Previously, on Thursday, he was arrested with 472 kg of dagga in his vehicle’s trunk.

Sokaba was arrested on the N2 in Sedgefield on his way to George from the Eastern Cape.

The joint operation was carried out by the Hawks and supported by crime intelligence, the Langeberg K9 and Eden Cluster Combating Team.

“Sokaba was driving a hired vehicle which was found loaded with about 472 kg dagga with an estimated street value of R900500,” Hawks spokesperson, Captain Philani Nkwalase said.

On Monday, he briefly appeared in the Magistrate Court in Knysna. He remains in custody awaiting his next appearance on March 13.
