Rape in church: two pastors accused – one arrested, the other in hiding

The police in Giyani started an investigation and already have arrested a 24-year-old local church pastor for raping a 16-year-old girl.

The victim who hails from a village outside Giyani, was allegedly raped by the two pastors between October 2018 and February 2019.

The other pastor who was also accused of rape had since disappeared having found out he is being sought by the police.

“The preliminary police investigations revealed that the two suspects have allegedly raped the victim in separate incidents on different days and at several places,” Colonel Ngoepe, Limpopo SAPS spokesperson stated.

The provincial commissioner of the Limpopo SAPS, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has condemned ongoing sexual offenses acts perpetrated against women and children.

“Members of the community, especially parents, are advised and encouraged to strengthen child safety at all times to prevent or avoid this type of incident to occur,” General Ledwaba said.

The arrested pastor is going to face trial in the Giyani Magistrate court on Friday.

The police are conducting investigative measures to catch the pastor who has been running away from justice.
