A son of a retired police officer along with another four teens are to face trial in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Thursday. They were accused of murder of a Polokwane man whose blood-covered body was discovered in a street in Flora Park over the weekend.
The police arrested them after a brief two-day search after they allegedly attacked the poor man on Saturday evening.
The office of national police commissioner General Khehla Sitole said that to add to the ruthlessness of the attack, not only are the suspects in their teens aged 15 and 16 years old, but also they filmed and posted it on social media.
The video of the victim carried by a group had been circulating on social media, with Twitter users claiming the suspects involved in the attack were pupils from Capricorn High School.

Suspects are pupils of grades 9 and 10.
“We are also investigating whether he himself had been involved in a criminal act, so we are deliberately not naming him,” Vish Naidoo also said.
