One man was killed, another was injured when they were struck by lightning, said paramedics from Germiston. The case happened on Saturday afternoon. As reported, rowing coach and 14 y.o. student were sitting under a tree when they were struck by lightning during the storm.
A Netcare arrived at the scene immediately after they received a call from eyewitnesses, Unfortunately, paramedics haven’t to save a life of coach:
“Sadly, despite best efforts to save the man’s life, he was declared deceased on the scene,” said Herbst, member of a Netcare.
A teen with injuries was delivered to the nearest Hospital.
National Sea Rescue Institute Gauteng station commander Gerhard Potgieter reportedly said the two were participating in a national rowing competition and were involved in a final pack-up when they were struck by lightning.
